Which Acne Treatments Really Work?

When it comes to acne treatments, there’s a world of products that claim to get rid of acne. Some of them help, or they make the acne worse than it was before. In order to be acne free, it’s important that you do some homework on acne treatments that claim to help get rid of acne for good.

Trying to find a treatment that can do everything needed to prevent acne is like trying to find the Perfect date; impossible. Most good treatments do one of three things that you need to help you rid your face of acne. So, it may be necessary to use a combination of treatments in order to be acne free.

A combination should include unclogging pores, slowing down the excretion of sebum, and killing off p.-acne. All skin is different so you need to choose what is right for your skin. Some of the treatments may only last a short while and some of the treatments may make your face break out more before improvement sets in.

If you have dry or oily skin, then choosing a treatment may depend on which you have to see how it will react when applied to your face. If your skin is already dry, for instance, then you will want to avoid treatments that might dry it out. It could actually cause your acne to worsen. The majority of acne treatments are for oily skin types. If you have oily skin, you will want to find a treatment that absorbs oil from the skin. It should contain something to slow down the production of sebum and kill the bacteria.

There are some treatments available for those trying to rid acne that can be purchased over the counter. Apply Benzoyl Peroxide is on way to treat acne, as it can be applied to the patches of acne. It is a drying agent, so you will want to put it directly on the pimples and not all over the face. If used too much though, it can stop working and actually cause more breakouts.

Another good treatment that is good for cleansing pores is Salicylic Acid. However, it may not work on all skin types. It will help the oils freely flow through pores instead of clogging to cause acne.

Remember, there is no absolute cure for acne. When searching for a way to become acne free, be sure to find the combination of products that work for your skin.

Best Acne Skin Treatment Tips

Acne can have a short-term, potentially lasting psychological effect. Decreased self-esteem and self-confidence can lead to social withdrawal and even depression. Left untreated, severe acne can lead to disfiguring scarring, which can itself be difficult to treat.

Acne has baffled doctors and dermatologists for years and finding an acne skin treatment that works is not easy. For reasons no one completely understands, hair follicles or sometimes referred to as “pores” get blocked. Sebum (oil) which normally drains to the surface (when you sweat) gets blocked and bacteria begins to grow. From that the inflammation can get worse or better. Depending on the severity of the infection the “zit” can last only a day, or in more severe occasions- a week.

The best defense against acne is to treat your skin gently by choosing the right treatment for acne. Also, do not pick, squeeze or rub your acne and keep your fingers off your face. Avoid any heavy oil based skin treatment, cosmetics or creams that will clog the pores. Togheter with the right treatment for acne, this suggestions can improve your condition a lot. Frequent smaller meals are suggested as well as healthy and balanced food choices.

Acne is a skin condition that usually starts in puberty because of changes to hormone levels that are occurring at this time. It is caused by increased sensitivity to testosterone, which is present in both boys and girls. The hormone causes excessive sebum to be secreted from the skin’s sebaceous glands. At the same time skin cells are rapidly dividing and sometimes block the opening of hair follicles. Changes in skin acid levels, also occurring at this time, encourage the growth of bacteria. And the three things together cause teenage acne to develop.

Acne is often thought to be only a “teenagers skin problem”, but actually is a condition that affects adults both male and female. Acne generally begins during puberty and peaks between the ages of 17-19.

While you are searching for the best acne skin treatment, here are some suggestions you can use to manage your acne. Too much washing can cause other skin problems, such as dryness or skin irritations. Try to keep hair clean and off the face and neck, as oil from the hair can make acne worse. Cleaning the skin can help, but even people with very clean skin can have problems with acne. Try washing the affected areas two to three times per day. Be careful not to overdo it.

Skin Allergy

Sometimes, a skin allergy is nothing to worry about. Most skin allergies are minor flareups that can safely be ignored. Sometimes they are provoked by changes in the weather, a certain food, or even a sudden change in mood. Nonetheless, a serious skin allergy can be a real problem. One of my best friends used to break into hives unexpectedly. I never found out what it was – I think his doctors didn't know. Nonetheless, it was very real and very scary. His skin would swell up and become covered with large, blotchy patches. He would get itchy and uncomfortable, and sometimes start wheezing.

He tried a lot of different things for his skin allergy. One of the best standbys used was Benadryl. He was an occasional allergy sufferer, so he didn't need to take antihistamines all the time. Nonetheless, when he would have an allergy skin flare up or some other type of reaction, he could always take a couple of them right away to ease the suffering a little bit. Nonetheless, it didn't really do enough for him. It helped it go away quicker, but it still could get pretty bad before it got better.

Sometimes he would use a skin allergy cream to treat it. Eczema allergies ran in his family, so many of his relatives had Eucerin or some other kind of cream that they would use during the winter months. He tried rubbing the stuff on his skin One time when he flared up, and was surprised to see it helping. Apparently, cortisone cream is very good stuff. It is excellent for treating skin inflammations of all sorts, and skin allergies are no exception.

Even so, he skin allergy attacks continued. As a matter of fact, when he went to college, the flareups got worse. He would be overcome by hives when studying or sometimes even right before going into a big test. This gave him the first clue he had to the true origin of his skin flare-ups.

It turns out that he wasn't suffering from a skin allergy at all. Instead, he was suffering from stress induced psychosomatic skin reactions. He would get so upset that his body would create symptoms. It is not as uncommon as you would think, but it can't really be effectively treated by medicines. They can help, but they can't cure it. Instead, he started going to see a counselor, and taking antianxiety medication. That helped him clear it up finally.

Yoga and Acne

Those of us or those among us whom
we love who suffer from acne need
all of the information and support
available from whatever sources
available to help them deal with
the physical as well as the
psychological issues that acne
causes.
Many studies in the last few years
have determined that there is most
assuredly a mind/body connection
to acne outbreaks.
An entirely new medical discipline
has been developed because of
these studies called
psychodermatology.
For More Information Visit:
Think Healthy Skin Care
It has been established that just
like hormonal imbalance can create
excess sebum and cause acne, so
too can the bodys production of
cortisol by the adrenal glands
during times of extreme emotional
distress cause the sebaceous
glands to produce excess sebum.
Our bodies are chemical
wonderlands.
Medical science is only beginning
to unlock some of the secrets but
one secret that has been unlocked
and that is the very certain
connection between mind and body
as the cause of acne as well as
other skin disorders and diseases.
Yoga is an ancient discipline that
focuses on the unity of mind, body
and spirit. The promotion of
calmness is central to the
practice of Yoga.
By practicing yoga and adhering to
the principles that are taught a
person can learn to control the
adrenal glands response to stress
and emotional upheaval and thus
reduce the frequency, intensity
and duration of an acne outbreak.
Take a look at:
Teenage Acne
Controlling emotions and the bodys
reaction to stress can sometimes
be found in the practice of yoga
positions and breathing exercises.
Where physical exercise focuses
only on the body and psychotherapy
focuses only on the mind, yoga
focuses on both and the spirit as
well.
It is a scientific certainly that
the emotions play a leading roll
in the development of acne.
Yoga can help the acne sufferer to
control his or her bodys physical
reaction to stress that causes
acne.

Concealers And Acne Skin Care

The third of Newtons laws says
that, "For every action, there is
an equal and opposite reaction."
Its one of the laws of physics.

That law of physics spills over
into a lot of life situations.

A young woman gets a zit and wants
to cover it up so the cosmetics
industry comes up with a multitude
of products designed to do that
very thing. Okay, thats a little
far out but you get my point.

For More Information Visit:
Acne Treatments>

The pimples, white heads and black
heads that constitute acne should
never be picked at or popped.

What will result is a scar and
those are a lot harder to get rid
of than the pimple, black head or
white head. Popping a pimple is
not going to make it go away.

In fact, popping a pimple is only
going to make the acne worse.
Still when you get a zit, you have
to go out and face the world so
you are looking for ways to make
your skin look clear.

You want to disguise the zit and
make it an unnoticeable as
possible.

The cosmetic industry can help.
There are a multitude of products
out there designed to make a zit
less noticeable.

You dont want to use products that
just add to the problem by adding
additional oil to already oily
skin.

You do need to remember, too, that
when you use a cover product to
make the zit less noticeable, you
will need to clean the product
from your skin when you return
home.

Take a look at:
Skin Care Products>

Some of the better known as well
as more effective cosmetic
concealers on the market today are:

1.Dermablend Smooth Indulgence
Concealer: This product produces a
smooth matte appearance and was
designed specifically for covering
acne blemishes as well as for
covering rosacea and dark circles
under the eyes.

2.Flawless Skin by Prescriptives:
This product will not aggravate
acne but will supply a medium to
full coverage and it contains SPF
25 for protection from the sun.

Acne Facials

If you are part of the 95% to 99%
of the population who suffers from
acne, you have most likely seen
advertisements for acne facials
and have wondered if there is
anything to the claims that they
make.

For More Information Visit:
Acne Treatment

The answer in general is, yes,
most of these acne facials are
very effective and pretty much
worth the price. Most of them can
be used in conjunction with your
usual acne fighting regime.

They wont necessarily replace any
part of what you are already doing
but rather enhance the effects.

You can find acne facials in most
all health stores, at many
cosmetic counters and online.

As a matter of fact, you can
probably do a better comparison of
available products online than you
can anywhere else.

Most of these acne facial products
provide for a three-step program.
The first step is a complete
facial cleansing followed by a
steam massage. The facial mask is
the final step.

The first two steps are designed
to prepare the face. The facial
cleansing is rather self
explanatory.

The steam is a step that softens
the black heads and the white
heads as well as to remove toxins
from the skin.

The final step is the facial mask.
The facial mask serves to remove
the dead skin cells from the face
as well as to moisturize it.

Take a look at:
Skin Care

google_ad_height = 60;
//-->

The overall effect of the acne
facial is a very relaxing and
calming experience. It just plain
feels good. Anything that helps to
calm and sooth cant be bad because
we all know that acne is
aggravated by stress.

The acne facial masks can be used
in addition to other parts of your
acne prevention and treatment
regime or you may find that the
acne facial can, in fact, actually
replace some things that you are
already doing.

Acne and Retin A Check It Out

You may have heard a neighbor or friend tout the miracle work involved with acne and Retin A. You may have come here to research the possibilities, since you are at your wit’s end, and decided to deal with acne and Retin A as the latest reality. Or you may have heard about or read up on how Retin A is a medically questionable solution, that Retin A was banned, is dangerous, is too drastic a decision or treatment.

Acne is, granted, one of those human flaws that unfortunately appear externally, so, unlike a genealogy of family members who are mentally ill or alcoholic, we cannot hide or keep secret the seemingly fatal flaw. I agree: acne makes for socially disastrous results. It can hurl us into depression, see us into obsession—into staring at ourselves for hours, picking, poking, squeezing, and popping, and can impel us to study and pursue such seemingly desperate measures as spending hours poring over acne and Retin A reports and case studies.

Let me give you one such case study of acne and Retin A when Retin A was still a volatile possibility--in a moment, after a few words on how we grow that acne to begin with. First, please understand that acne is biological/genetic. Acne is bacteria-based--is a result of natural sebum clogging pores and follicle. Acne is also induced by stress, which sends an increase of sebum to the pores and follicles, thereby sending you something to show off at the high school reunion, wedding, or first date, which, if you think positively about it, will prove to yourself and others you are still young...not that you were so stressed about revisiting your history that you broke out in adolescent growth spurts—on your face.

Some of us are still that young, others remember having acne, others have kids who are having a bad time of this adolescent nightmare, and still others of us recall acne and Retin A. As far back as the seventies, that is, I was an acne and Retin A candidate. And though those I tell today show doubt about that acne and Retin A (because it was then a problem/solution combo that was highly questionable and not yet fully studied, and, well, because my skin is zit-free now), I continue to swear by acne and Retin A as the most miraculous of problem and solution phenomena.

Yes, I washed my face. Yes, I steamed and applied fresh lemons. Yes, I went to a dermatologist, was given a prescription that required acne and Retin A become friends. And yes, that Retin A was mixed with straight vodka. And…hell, yes, it burned, made my face peel in sheets, and made peers in high school point and ask if I had been in some sort of accident. But, OH, YESSSS…. By day three of the acne and Retin A experiment, I was once again the beauty I thought I was.

Acne Skin Care And Causes Of Pimples

It would be safe to say that all of us, at one point or the other in our lives, have experienced the pain and embarrassment of acne. While it is a very common occurrence, especially in the teenage years, acne causes a great deal of fear, embarrassment and even depression among people. Most people are not sure what causes acne in the first place. Even medical professionals have only a handful or reasons to attribute to acne causes. But all of us suffer from it and the pharmaceutical industry profits a great deal from the numerous lotions and potions that consumers hungrily consume to deal with acne.

While there could be several acne causes, the most commonly attributed one is that of poor hygiene. This is however, not an acne cause and should be treated as the myth that it is in reality. Actual acne causes could range from hormonal imbalances in the teenage body to the blocking up of a hair duct. Other common acne causes include the infection f the sebaceous gland, excessive oil secretion and even combination of the above. In some rare cases, acne causes could be attributed to poor or ineffectual diet. But whatever the acne causes, it is better to visit a dermatologist to find out the exact source of the acne and to find out the best way to eradicate it.

Most people, myself included, choose to ponder over the acne causes in the comfort and safety of their homes before they do the obvious thing. They go down to the nearest pharmacy to procure one of the several acne treatment products available. And to be honest, the shelves are full of them! American and global pharmaceuticals are well aware of the nearly obsessive compulsion of all human beings to get rig of acne. And they have left no stone unturned to provide us with as many remedies and near remedies as possible. But turning to these products without determining the acne causes could result in more harm than good. After all, what is the benefit in spending a fortune in acne treatments if you don’t know what causes acne in the first place. As discussed, the acne causes are many. And are different from one individual to another. So what works for a friend or an acquaintance need not work for you. Unless one is able to consult a dermatologist to ascertain the acne causes, there is no sure way of finding the solution. And the best thing is that when the dermatologist is able to identify what the acne causes are, there might just be a miracle prescription drug that will cure you of all acne just like that.
What Can Skin Care Products Do For You?

The statement that we are a nation of consumers has never been truer than it is today. If you want merchandise there are no limits on the way you can get it. There are catalog shopping, online, shopping, online auctions, mega mall and superstore shopping and there are small shops and specialty shops. With all the retail possibilities that are available there are times when there seems to be too many choices. I have found myself standing in an hour for half an hour reading labels and trying to choose which item to buy.

I had this dilemma a few weeks ago when I was trying to find a skin care product for my poison ivy. The week before I had been standing in the medicated creams aisle looking for something to help relieve the itching. I was going crazy trying not to scratch. When I did scratch it would begin to hurt. I bought several different lotions that were supposed to relieve the itching. I ended up doing some research and found the home remedy of rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana peel. Within ten minutes the itching was gone and it did not return for eight hours. Now that I was through the itching and weeping stage I wanted something to help sooth and heal the area. I was in a superstore and went to the skin care product aisle. There were so many products that I did not know where to begin. I knew that I did not want anything with a heavy scent because the scented creams I had at home had seemed to irritate the area. I had heard that vitamin E is a good vitamin to promote the healing of the skin and that aloe was a natural soothing ingredient. I thought that concentrating on these two ingredients would narrow down the number of skin care products that would be available. That was not the case. It seems that these are two of the main ingredients in well over half of the skin care product available on the shelves. After about thirty minutes of reading labels my husband came looking for me. He could not believe that I had stayed in one aisle since we walked in the store. He started looking at the different skin care product that was available. He found one that combined oatmeal to sooth the itching, vitamin E to prevent scarring and Aloe and a natural healer. This seemed to cover all the bases so I decided to buy that one. It was unreal to me that there were so many different tubes, bottles and jars. It was one time where there were too many choices. The cream that I did pick had healed the poison ivy.

Natural skin care treatments are inexpensive and bring stunning results!

Women all over the world spend billions of dollars on skin care products every year, in an effort to keep their skin soft, smooth and lovely, even into their later years. There are certainly no shortage of skin care products. Cosmetic companies now offer a host of skin creams, wrinkle reducing agents and under eye potions for that delicate skin around the eyes.

With all of these day creams, night creams, exfoliants and sunscreens, it can be quite confusing trying to figure out which products might be best for you. You may end up purchasing one of these products based entirely on what the package blurb promises! Such experimenting is a costly proposition and the results may be disappointing. Perhaps it's a good time to take a step back from these pricey products and try some natural skin care treatments, which have produced wonderful results over centuries of traditional use.

Our natural skin care treatment regimen begins with clean skin. No matter what your age, when you clean your skin, a natural glycerine soap is the least drying, is hypo-allergenic and does an excellent job of cleaning the skin. Rinse your skin well to remove all traces of soap. Follow up with witch hazel lotion, applied with a cotton ball. This closes and tightens the pores in a manner similar to cosmetic toners. Witch hazel is available at any pharmacy and costs about $1.50 for a bottle that will last for months.

Next in our lineup of natural skin care treatments is a natural exfoliant, made with botanical extracts. These should be used once or twice a week, to remove dead skin cells. Your skin is a living organ which is continuously regenerating. Removing the buildup of dead skin allows nutrients and moisturizers to be absorbed into the new skin cells, producing a fresh, young and vibrant quality to your skin. The Freeman(R) company has an excellent and inexpensive line of these natural botanicals.

Now, you're ready to moisturize. Sweet almond oil, avocado oil and jojoba oil will all do the job and are readily available at health food stores for just a few dollars. Young people may like sweet almond oil, which is not quite so heavy as the others. Older people, with dry skin can use avocado oil as a day cream and jojoba oil for night time. All of these are well absorbed, provide valuable nutrients and keep your skin soft and supple. Any of these oils may be used as an all over body treatment as well. With the exception of jojoba oil, keep your oils in the frig to prevent rancidity.

For little more than $10, you now have a complete natural skin care treatment program!

You'll want to keep in mind that nutrition is an important component of beautiful skin. Some of the vitamins and minerals which directly impact skin health include vitamins A, all of the B complexes, C and E. Zinc, copper and iron are trace minerals essential to healthy skin. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet, drink your 8 glasses of water daily and exercise regularly.

There you have the makings of a natural skin care treatment program that truly produces results you'll love!

Acne Skin Care For Teens

If you’re in middle school or high school, you probably have troubles with acne. Sure, there are always those few students somehow blessed with beautiful skin that is completely blemish-free all through their teens, but if they manage to graduate high school without ever having a zit the rules of averages would suggest that something will go terribly wrong later in their lives. At least the rest of us can always hope.

Acne can go a long way in wrecking your day, or at least wrecking your self-esteem. Waking up with a big red zit on the middle of your chin can be disastrous, especially if it’s on the day of your prom or on the day of your first date with the girl or guy of your dreams. Once the zit is already there, there isn’t a whole lot you can do. You can pop it and be left with a red mark or just leave it there and suffer through it. Personally, though it may run against popular opinion, I’d say pop the thing. Think about it, when you see other kids in the halls is it easier to see a little red mark or a big red and white pimple?

Speaking of other kids, they have acne too. Though it may feel like it sometimes, you’re not the only one who occasionally has acne. It may feel like everybody else is staring at the zit on your chin, but really, they’re not. They probably couldn’t care less if you had ten zits on your chin, since they’re probably too preoccupied worrying about their own acne. Adolescence brings with it a whole host of insecurities so don’t worry, everybody else is freaking out too.

So, what can you do about your acne? As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Unfortunately for some, acne is, in part, genetic. Some people are genetically predisposed to having amazingly clear skin, others have average skin with pimples cropping up every now and then, while yet others are genetically afflicted with having terrible skin. If you find yourself somewhere in the last two categories like most people, all hope is not lost.

Since acne is cause by dirt and oil getting trapped within your pores, the best prevention against acne is to wash your face regularly, at least every morning and night. Use mild soap to avoid irritation. A mild astringent can help some people dry out their faces and reduce the amount of oil on their skin, but for others it dries out their skin too much. Some prescription acne medicines are available, but these usually aren’t worth the hassle and side effects unless your acne is particularly chronic.

Eliminate Acne And Its Causes

Imagine the money and the heartache saved in the process!

Vitamins for Acne Get You on the Road to Clearer Skin

I have battled breakouts for most of my life, at least as far back as I can remember, so I know how embarrassing and painful the condition can be. I tried just about everything to get clearer skin, but to no avail. Then I learned an important fact about our skin. What we put into our bodies will affect every part -- including our complexion! It was then that I got turned on to vitamins for acne.

After many years of dealing with this condition, I came to the conclusion that there was no effective way to treat this condition topically. I mean, you can wash your face over and over, but you'll most likely just end up with dry skin, and the breakouts will keep on happening. You can put over-the-counter creams on your face every night, but those products will never address the root cause of breakouts.

That's why I began considering natural treatments for this condition, and researched the idea of vitamins for acne. It wasn't difficult to do, since there is plenty of good information on the Internet explaining how supplements can work on this condition, and identifying which ones were the best. For example, there are a number of nutrients that you should look for in vitamins for acne, such as antioxidants and B5. If a product doesn't contain those, it probably won't help much.

Antioxidants are found in foods like fruits and vegetables, and fight the effects of free radicals that increase your risk for a variety of conditions (like skin conditions!) and cause premature aging. Since most of us don't eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables daily, a supplement is a good way to get these much-needed nutrients. Once you start taking vitamins for acne, your skin will thank you with a healthier glow and a clearer complexion.

Another breakthrough in vitamins for acne has to do with B5, or pantothenic acid. This nutrient has been shown to be nearly as effective in achieving clearer skin as Accutane, but it is much cheaper and doesn't come with a long list of side effects. There are a number of companies on the Internet that offer their own variety of this particular vitamin for acne, along with additional information about why it is so effective.

Dealing with this painful and embarrassing skin condition is no fun, but the good news is that there is help available. By finding vitamins for acne, you can give your body the nutrients it needs to stay at optimum health, which will allow you to look and feel better. Give one of these products a shot, and say hello to clearer skin!

Simple Safe Anti Aging Acne Skin Care

Simple Safe Acne Anti Aging Skin Care

Are you facing the problem of your skin aging before it's time? Relax! Thanks to the advances in acne anti aging skin care treatments there is a skin care product or actual medical treatment to help you. However, you and I need to know a few things before we can choose the right skin care treatment.

As a matter of course, before you or I even think about what product or type of treatment we are going to employ, we should always consult a qualified professional first. Obviously, the well trained and licensed physician can advise us as to what our actual skin problems are. Many times we may find out that we have an underlying health condition, such as a thyroid problem or other condition, causing our skin to age faster than normal. Obviously, treating the medical problem would be the very first step in our battle; to stop the premature aging of our skin. In addition to ruling out a medical condition, there are a few other things our doctor will be able to fill us in on.

One of the first things we need to know is that, as in many other things, female and male skin is different. Big surprise! Right? As an example a man's face, when treating over exposure to the sun, wind and other environmental hazards, needs a skin care moisturizer which contains vitamin B5. Many of today's dermatologists also recommend creams with a combination of witch hazel and B5.

However, because the fairer sex, have other problems with their skin, than the old rugged male, women only need B5 in their acne anti aging skin care battle. But it really helps both men and women, to kick their skin care battle up a notch, to include lotions and moisturizer creams with vitamins such as coenzyme Q10. In addition there are many other ingredient’s found in today's moisturizer creams and lotions.

A great many of the over the counter lotions and moisturizer creams contain an ingredient known as petrolatum. Emphasis on the petro! Because it is so common many of us have used it for years and guess what? Yep! You guessed it. It may cause our skin to age that much faster. Studies which have been conducted, over the years, by well qualified skin specialist; bear this theory out. One of the easiest and simplest things to do in our acne anti aging skin care treatment; is to avoid the products which contain petrolatum. But we need to remember there are other chemical and preservatives which should be avoided.

We should take the time to read every label on every bottle and tube of skin treatment products. However you and I know, we normally can’t spell many of the ingredients listed, much less pronounce them or know what they mean. Here’s a little tip, a science teacher friend of mine gave me. If the word is about 2 inches long, chances are it is a chemical compound which is not natural to our body. Avoid it!

It’s easy for us to understand there is more to simple, safe acne anti aging skin care than just using any old cream or moisturizer. It will pay for us to gain as much knowledge as we can; to keep us from looking old before our time.

The Right Acne Skin Care for Young Adults

Acne is a skin problem that usually occurs during the teenage years for most people. Some people however, experience acne well after their twenties. Acne is primarily caused by the hormonal changes brought about by the onset of puberty. The right acne skin care needs to be introduced to those who suffer from it to prevent unsightly marks from the eruptions. Some people experience acne on their faces while in others it can spread to both the chest and the back.

The other factors that can result in acne are a diet rich in fatty and oily foods and improper hygiene. Fatty or oily foods contribute to the sebum that can cause blockage in most cases of acne. Improper hygiene also promotes less removal of the blockages found in acne prone areas. Individuals need to know the basics of acne skin care in order to minimize the occurrence. Some races are also more prone to acne than others while others do not need any acne skin care treatments at all.

Medication as Acne Skin Care

There are both medication and herbal treatments for acne but so far some of the natural treatments have proven to be only temporary remedies while others do not work for most people. The most effective acne skin care products are found to be those that are chemically based.

Topical bactericidal are among the major acne skin care treatments that work and these usually contain benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide can help to dissolve the keratin that plugs the pores of our skin. It also helps to eliminate the bacterium that has been associated to the rise of acne and prevent new lesions from forming. The downside to this medication is that it can cause dryness in the skin and, if it is too strongly formulated, may cause irritation.

Oral antibiotics can also be effective as an acne skin care treatment. It is not as effective as benzoyl peroxide but it can help to decrease the levels of the bacteria that can help spread acne. It does not however lessen the effects of too much sebum and lack of good hygiene. Hormonal treatment can help females suffering from acne since the onset of puberty is one of the causes of acne.

Topical and oral retinoids can also help as acne skin care treatment. Oral retinoids can effectively eliminate and stop acne from occurring in most individuals but may work for a much longer time before the effects become clear. Retinoids do have the disturbing side effect of making the acne peak and increase but after a while these calm down and go away.

These acne skin care treatments are really effective for some people. Others prefer the natural or herbal acne skin care treatment or remedies. It all actually depends on how your skin reacts to the treatment.

Different Forms Of Acne Skin Care

I’ve spent some years looking into the different forms of acne skin care. One thing I’ve learned is there are about as many different forms of acne skin care as there are people looking for acne skin care. Everyone seems to have their own unique idea on ways to treat acne, or prevent acne from occurring in the first place.

The one thing I have learned about acne skin care is that your skin can be treated by ways other than topical products. Skin is a part of your body, and contrary to popular belief is very much alive; only the outermost layers of skin are ‘dead’. Taking good care of yourself in general can therefore be a good method of acne skin care. This means a healthy diet and frequent exercise, but most important I’ve found that keeping stress levels down makes a huge difference for me. My acne is like a stressometer; if I’ve got a lot on my plate I’m pretty much guaranteed to wake up in the morning with two or three new little friends.

So learning different techniques to keep stress levels down has proven to be the best acne skin care I’ve come up with, in that it prevents it from happening at all. What you decide to do to keep stress down is up to you, just make sure it’s not alcohol! Alcohol may help you relax, but its one of those culprits that can cause a lot of acne outbreaks for people. Stress isn’t just feeling pressured or tense, but also includes stress to your body that you don’t otherwise notice. Alcohol puts your body under stress, even if it makes you feel mentally at ease.

Of course, some acne just pops up whether I’m stressed or not, so there’s always a need for some acne skin care beyond just healthy low stress living. As far as topical acne skin care treatments, I prefer using soaps that have either salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide in them. For years I was using benzyl peroxide soaps every day with some success, but I’ve recently discovered salicylic acid is just as effective in acne skin care for me.

I use one or the other every day whether I’m having outbreaks or not, and follow up washing my face with applying a moisturizer of some kind. This last part is key, as I’ve found that not using a moisturizer will often lead to outbreaks. Acne skin care soaps are often quite harsh, and can in themselves cause acne for me if I don’t follow up with something to sooth the cleaned skin.

Dealing With Oily Skin

Sometimes you probably hate your face! Hey, don't feel too bad about this. I think we all go through these phases at times. The problem is our faces are delicate organs. They're not like the skin on your back or leg. No sir; the face is much more delicate. Your mug likely requires constant care and attention. At least if you want it to look half-way decent. This goes double for those who grapple with oily skin. Once you hit puberty, you mug is probably breaking out on a regular basis. This is clearly the downside of oily skin and hormones. So what you need now is an oily skin treatment regimen. In order to get your greasy T-zone under control, you must know how to cleanse and treat it. So put down that harsh bar of deodorant soap and pay attention!

First and foremost, when you're dealing with oily skin, don't make assumptions. Just because your face is oily, doesn't mean you need to cleanse it six times a day with some harsh product. This is actually the last thing you want to do. Irritating it will only lead to more breakouts. Your first move should be to acquire an oily skin treatment such as Proactive Solution, or specific products from Neutrogena. Many drugstore brands now offer oily skin treatment products to assist you in your battle. Most likely you're going to follow the directions of the facial cleanser you choose and wash your mug in the morning and before bed. Yes, I only said twice. Cleansing more than this will likely just dry out your skin. This is never good. Once you've cleansed, there are a number of products to select from. If you went with the Proactive kit, you will follow the cleansing process with a toner and finish with an acne fighting moisturizer. This allows your complexion to clear as the day goes on. The product will battle the acne and help minimize your pores.

Part of the battle involves diet. What you consume is a major oily skin treatment. Eating loads of vegetables and lean meats will definitely assist you in clearing your complexion. This is called treating from the inside out. Avoid fast food, greasy foods and sugary snacks. All of which can upset your pores and lead to more breakouts. And finally, if you can't seem to find an oily skin treatment that works for you, see a dermatologist as soon as possible for assistance.

Acne Affects Both Young and Old

Acne is a common problem that many teenagers face. It can be very embarrassing for many teenagers who are at a very delicate time in their lives. With the many pressures teenagers face, acne can be an added burden that interferes with a young person’s self esteem and confidence. For some of us, acne was not much of a concern throughout our youth.

I was one of the fortunate, clear-skinned girls in my high school. I never had to use any acne treatment or use topical medicine for outbreaks. I did get the occasional pimple and I always had the noticeable breakout right before a special event. The blemish usually appeared right on the center of my nose or right in the middle of my forehead. The blemish would sprout on the morning of a special event.

I had an acne breakout right before the Junior Miss Pageant and I think that this may have contributed to my being cut out of the final ten. It may have been the fact that I’m five-two and a little clumsy, but I like to think that the acne was the cause of the Junior Miss elimination. I may have gotten the acne because I was under stress. The blemish disappeared once I found out that I was cut.

I wasn’t the least bit nervous before my prom, but suddenly, there it was. I found a huge blemish right on the tip of my nose. Covering it up with makeup only made it worse. I didn’t let the spot on my nose ruin my night, but it was so big that my eyes were beginning to cross, being drawn to the bright-red dot. I had a good sense of humor about it. I did put my gown back on a week later to get pictures taken. I wonder if I can crop my prom date into the pictures. Acne or no acne, I still had a great time.

Today, I find myself in a new situation when it comes to unsightly blemishes. I’m approaching middle age and I use moisturizer. What I’m finding is that my skin tends to be a bit oily and I am having acne breakouts after moisturizing my face. I am very irritated that I need to combat wrinkles and acne at the same time. One of the things to look forward to as you get older is the absence of acne. I guess I still have a lot of growing up to do.

Simple therapy to wipe out acne: Cram your diet with vitamins for acne conditions!

Although it's true that most people who suffer from acne are teens, this condition can persist into adulthood. While everybody will experience the occasional zit, for the most part, acne is preventable. Ah, you don't believe me! Well, listen up, follow this advice and see if you don't get the results you want.

Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have a raft of blemishes show up just about the time you're going to a party? Nutrition is all important in the fight against acne. The best vitamins for acne conditions are found in fruits and veggies.

Excess oil in the skin is a major culprit. This doesn't mean that avoiding fat altogether is the answer. There are good and bad fats. Fats should comprise about 20% of your total intake of calories each day. Generally, animal fats and trans fats are the ones you want to avoid. Olive oil is the best and is also healthy for your cardiovascular system.

Now, to keep outbreaks to a minimum, lets take a look at those good vitamins for acne. Vitamins A, C, E and zinc should be in good supply in your daily diet. This means lots of fruits and veggies. Include lots of salads. A variety of greens, fresh parsley, all of the citrus fruits and red, orange or yellow vegetables are all high in vitamins A and C. Avocados are loaded with vitamin E. The ready to drink vegetable juices supply many of these vitamins. If you don't care for the taste, try a squirt of lemon juice or one of the spicy versions, ice cold, as this beverage is so beneficial to the health of your skin.

When you make a salad, which makes an excellent lunch or dinner, make it a chef's style with healthy additions like sliced chicken breast or salad shrimp. Vary your selection of dark green, leafy vegetables in your salads so you don't get bored with this meal. Spinach, mesclun or spring mixes are good choices. Dice in a sweet red or orange bell pepper for a good dose of beta-carotene, the most beneficial form of vitamin A. Organic, locally grown fruits and vegetables also contain more of these nutrients than veggies that have been picked in an under ripe state and shipped hundreds of miles. Look for salad dressings made with olive or soy oil.

With summer here, a fruit smoothie makes a great, quick breakfast that's filling and good for your skin.

Teens need these vitamins for acne treatments in greater abundance than adults. Talk to your doctor to see if vitamin supplements are a good addition to your healthy eating program. Remember too, that caffeine washes all these vitamins, particularly vitamin C, out of your system before you can absorb them.

The most helpful vitamins for acne conditions are found in abundance at the produce counter. Eat up for great skin!
