Smart goal setting makes use of programmes to map out your goals for business or pleasure. Goal setting is an important aspect when building a better home based business.

We have all seen the adverts earn $5,000 a week, but unless you have a plan you are never going to achieve this type of goal, sometimes by luck you will reach your goal, I always wanted to retire at 55 but never had an action plan to lead me to that goal. I thought about it and told others and ended up retiring at 50.

You cannot run a home based business this way , you need to focus on goals, one smart goal setting method I have come across is a spreadsheet where you entered basic information such as the price of product you were selling,, the hours you planned to work, your target sales, together with the sales/enquiry ratio.

The smart goal setting program then gave the results in the form of how many enquiries you needed to receive on an annual, monthly,weekly and daily basis. Additional sheets provided tracking of result.

Armed with this information and knowing how much traffic you needed to generate on a daily basis lead into the marketing plan of the smart goal setting program, here you could plan your leads generation plans direct mail, face to face meeting etc and enter the cost.

A Calendar provided prompts of when to send emails, press releases, articles, classified ads and another sheet in the smart goal setting program was set aside for results.

One aspect I liked from using a spread sheet was the what if type scenario you could perform, so you can quickly see if sales conversion rates change what effect they will have on you business.

Today in a forum I found a post from someone who had gained a top position in Google by accident. he had unknowingly discovered the power of regionalisation, rather than pitting himself self against thousands of other attorneys he had focused on his local market.

He had kept the site simple, The title reflected the keyword phrase, which had good search engine results probability. The metatags description was written with good keyword content. The keyword phrase was also within the first three keywords of the metatag. The actual content on the website was very informative.

Regionalisation is a very powerful technique to target particular markets and if you were to do business in some other location such as Malaysia he could use a similar site, but replacing references to his regionalised keyword phrase.

I have used regionalisation myself and though some might say that duplication is bad, if you are offering similar services in different regions there is nothing wrong with using a similar promotion method, no need to reinvent the wheel, after all most affiliate sites are duplication, but with them you cannot usually correctly format the meta tags.

One has to remember that SEO is always work in progress you always have to provide fresh food for the spiders to retain your position.

Pirates Of Borneo Take Over Restaurant

Pirates of Borneo have taken over the the former Atlantis Restaurant at the Waterfront, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia !

Do not worry no blood was spilt

Pirates of Borneo have spent the last month renovating and improving the former Atlantis Restaurant, which has now reopened as Atlantis Brasserie serving a selection of fish dishes in an intimate cocktail lounge/restaurant.

Two other new features are the Pirates Bar, a large island bar downstairs with live entertainment at weekends, which serves a large selection of beer, wines and snacks, which are proving popular with tourists. The second feature is a new bar on the upperdeck from which tourists and visitors alike will be able to view the sun setting in the south china sea.

The upperdeck bar was formally at The Cottage in Luyang and is in fact the oldest Bar in Kota Kinabalu having served customers since 1981 and was transferred to the Waterfront at the end of February.

Pirates of Borneo has proved popular with tourists offering pirate cruises and also managing the nearby Aussie Bar and they currently offer the cheapest beer on the Kota Kinabalu Waterfront.

Starting a home based business is not to be taken lightly, all too often people rush into starting a business without thought, enticed by flash movies on the internet showing how you can get rich quick.

Reality soon strikes as the budding home based business opportunity which had been promoted as the best thing since sliced bread fails to produced any results.

How often have you been told once you have signed up for a business that in order to get results quicker you need to sign up for this leads package or advertising package. The result is a greater negative cash flow. It is no wonder that so many businesses fail.

So what is the solution, I firmly believe in providing information and knowledge gained from many years of working online. Building a home based business will take time, I suggest that when you join a new work at home opportunity you give it a least six months to work.

There is no automatic cash generating machine, if there was everyone would be using it. You must be prepared to work and learn about the business, and also put into action what you learn.

Why is the internet so full of freeloaders? there are over 15,000 searches a day on this keyword and Google will produce 754 million results. Some people will only join a business if it is free and then expect to be able a six figure income.

The Internet is like any other business you need to invest money to make money. The very fact that you spend money on a home based business means that you are more likely to spend time and effort to build that home based business. If it is free people generally do not bother but instead go on collecting more and more free business opportunties until they have no time for anything else.

How to start a better home based business, well if you search on Google with this term you will get over 4 million results which may or may not help. The key to success with a home based business is first of all to have a product that everyone wants.

One product I have success with is Jaguar Marketing because it teaches what most people need to know how to market a better home based business on the internet. I am not here so sell you that product, but to give some ideas as what is required to set up a work at home business.

The next phase is to do some keyword research around the term Internet marketing, I recommend http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com. Many people make the mistake of targeting a key word with many hits, whereas they will have more success in using a long tailed keyword so one would look at phrases such as Internet Marketing training, or internet marketing advice.

Once you have some ideas of keywords, it time to select a domain name. A tool I use is http://nameboy.com which helps by generating options. One thing to note is avoid the .biz domains as most emails from these domains get flagged as spam.

Once you have a domain name, if you are not going to build a better home based business website yourself but are forwarding it to another home based opportunity site, I recommend you use masking, which will allow your to enter the title, description and keyword meta tags to show in search engine results.

"A webcast is a media file distributed over the Internet using streaming media technology. As a broadcast may either be live or recorded, similarly, a webcast may either be distributed live or recorded. Essentially, webcasting is �broadcasting� over the Internet.

The generally accepted use of the term webcast is the "transmission of linear audio or video content over the Internet".

Webcasting is an ideal tool for online training and is simple to use you just log into your Vereconference room. Go to the whiteboard and select the webcasting tool.

You then select a pane on your computer screen which will act as your stage, thereafter any thing you place on the stage will appear as a webcast, recording sound and video. Your cursor appears as a large arrow so that your audience can clearly see what you are talking about.

The Vereconference room has recording facilities which as well as recording sites browsed, presentations on whiteboard and chats will also record webcasts.

To record a training session which includes a webcast first select the record function from the file menu, you will be prompted to name the file and choose the location. Once recording is on start your presentation including your webcast. When your presentation is finished, you will have a selection of files including the java presentation,mp3 and index file.

The index file can be editing to remove or reduce the chat area and also to allow branding of the recording with your own logo.

To distribute your webcast upload the folder to a server and provide a link to the index file. The webcast can then be run on a adhoc basis by anyone who has access to the file.

I was looking in a small business forum recently where someone was seeking advice on purchasing a list to help build his business.

Virtually every online business opportunity today talks about the importance of building lists of leads, but for someone just starting out this seems to be a problem and as a result these people often resort to purchasing leads.

The quality of leads from a purchased list ranges from fair to useless, because the source is questionable.
For example anyone with time on their hands can make a list, you can do a quick Google search http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=*@ireland.com%3B&btnG=Search&meta and this gives 94,000 email addresses in Ireland at the press of a button.

It is quite common for people to harvest email addresses and then sell not once but multiple times.

Some leads lists are compiled as a result of surveys with people encouraged to submit their email address in order to get a free gift, often the IP address and date are also captured as partial proof the email was collected legally. However some of these submitted addresses do not exist and often in other cases the person is only interested in the freebie and nothing else. When you contact these people you are unlikely to get any response.

The only way to get real leads for your business is to capture your own and that way you will know where they come from and how they were captured, I use a variety of tools to capture leads and my systems generate 1,000's of opt in leads a day. http://freeleads.davidogden.org

You need to take care to protect yourself when contacting these free leads to ensure you do not get accused of spamming.

The best way to do this is to send out a verification email to obtain permission to send them your business information/opportunity. Under no circumstances send them any offer in your first email, not even in your signature file.

You can expect that between 1-2% will open the emails and reply and these are the contacts that become part of your list.

Once someone has subscribed to you list you can then send them information, but you must ensure that all correspondence has a way for them to unsubscribe themselves.

Using a Better home based business opportunity you will learn more about how to usefully market on the Internet.

One area of lead generation that does cause confusion with novice users is what to do with leads that are generated from your own FFA. such as FREEFFAS. Generally speaking anyone who submits an entry to an FFA agrees to receive one message from the owner of the FFA. Normally this would be a verification email as mentioned earlier so you can add them to your list.

If you do not have a sophisticated mailing system you can send out a one off offer, thanking them for adding data to your FFA and explaining that they have not been added to you list and will only hear from you again if they take up your offer or submit to your FFA
