Apparently Twitter and Facebook are the two fastest growing social networks online.
Twitter answers the question "What are you doing?" - just like going to a meeting or a party where you're mixing with business contacts etc. A kind of "Speed-networking" or micro blogging using no more than 140 characters (akin to SMS messaging) online!

What can Twitter do for you? Twitter is like "PR" - enabling you to keep your ame and Brand 'top of mind'. It's great for direct, brief communication and will get people's attention! It can expand your Network, contacts list etc outside of your own region which in turn may lead to more business.However, as with all business communication, follow a process ! Instead of shoving your business opportunities down everyopne's throat (especially when they haven't asked for it) is just about the biggest mistake most people make when networking. you can usually accomplish more by following a simple approach and using some patience! My MAP Quest for More Customers

Why I passed on a Golden chance! Something occurred to me yesterday when I received an email from a friend re his new online business. he didn't mention Customers! You see just a couple of weeks ago, when he asked me "What are you doing?" and "how's it all going?� The timing was such I decided to share my latest results.....as you do! Of course you can guess what I received - an invitation to look at his new home business ! So I did, after all, He�s a much-respected friend and I value his commentary on such things. Now without going into detail too much it seems to be a new "Gold Coin" program. The core attribute of the business being you buy gold coins and save them. You also recruit / refer others and go about building a home business upon Gold coins - cost per coin? Around $700 presently. But wait a minute I thought, we're in a recession and its going to get worse - so it could make good sense. Didn't I hear that the price of Gold was going down recently? Of course, it's "bound to go back up" Then I thought some more,� What about those MLM stats I recall from all the due diligence we always talk about when assessing such opportunities? Didn't I recall a figure something like," The average network marketer recruits 2.4 people in their lifetime of their business"! I did the numbers and I wasn't impressed. You see my friend has (I think) overlooked a key factor which is central to the success I enjoy in the opportunity which I presented to him. Is this: BUY CUSTOMERS! Plain and simple! I lived off my credit card and bought the best nutritional supplements I could buy, recommended them to others so I could earn income. I joined the local swimming pool and walked there every day to swim 1000 metres, refresh myself, relax for a few moments each day and reflect upon my progress. It was very slow - but it worked! After ten years I paid off my debt by learning to manage debt effectively. So much so, I am now again in debt but this time I am financing a business in which I BUY CUSTOMERS - who BUY PRODUCT � for THEIR health!! The difference between this business and the earlier one? MAP Quest for Customers - Do You Know The Lifetime Value?

Do You Know The Lifetime Value of Your Customers? A key element of running any business that depends on customers is knowing the answer to this vital question. In my 'MAP Quest' - MAP means Media Acquisition Program - a process for obtaining new business customers- established that the LV for my customer is around $226.00 It�s vital because, without understanding this facet of your business, you could be wasting your time money and resources chasing business that really isn�t there to be had. Its really important to have a firm idea on the value of the potential business each customer has for your business. This is commonly referred to as the lifetime value. As with most good sales and marketing tools its useful to have a simple equation to apply in order to quantify potential customer and therefore market value. In this case the formula is as follows: �The total amount of sales that a particular customer could represent over a lifetime period� For example; Say a customer subscribes to your Monthly online service of $60.00 and over time, history has shown that your average customer stays with you 4 years. This would mean that their lifetime Value (LV) is $60.00 multiplied by 12 months multiplied by 4 years. Thus : LV= $60x 12 x 4 = $2,880. Remember this is the average LV of a customer � some will far exceed that � others will have a lower LV. Being aware of the LV of a customer is extremely useful to know and apply. What do you already Know about your customers? Why not take a few moments now to see what the LV is by filling in the Blank areas below: A. What is your average customer�s purchase ��.$................week/month/year B. How many times do they do they buy?..............................................times C. How long (on average) does a customer stay with you?.................... years. Congratulations! You�ve taken a valuable step closer to understanding your typical customer. This information is valuable and should be monitored. Why? Because understanding this will be valuable information to consider when looking for ways to attract customers or increase your turnover! Example: Say the LV of a customer in my Veretekk internet business is $5 x 12 x 3 = $180 � My current annual income is $20,000 and I wish to double that next year ie.$40,000. � Increased business over the next 3years - $60,000/ 180 = 334 (rounded) which means finding and keeping 112 (334 / 3) new, �typical� customers each year for the next 3 years. � This equates to finding 112/52 = 2+ customers per week Now � I have a target I can aim for and measure my performance against! That�s the important lesson here -along with a simple philosophy which is: �What gets measured gets done!�. Now, this provides me with a �rough guide� for monitoring my veretekk business going forward. However, there is of course one other missing factor which I have still to address which is: How many new customers do I have to signup to get ONE average customer? I�ll Discuss this further in another article. in the meantime ponder this. Another core business venture i participate operates a MAP program. MAP being for Media Acquisition Program. I refer to my hunt for more customers in this business as my MAPQUESTfor in this business a fixed cost for Customer aquisition has been firmly established. This is a huge benefit when considering the LV of a customer because the MAP cost is known. Because of this important factor, it very easy to establish the LV of a customer for this business and in effect, it allows me to focus on the ordering patterns for each customer month by month to establish, over time, what my conversion rate is - that is the number of LV customers per Media Acquisition Programcustomers acquired.

Map Quest at the Heart of a good business

In pursuit of my mapquest, it didn't take long for my Twitter website to locate the kind of people I want to meet. I felt a burst of reciprocity coming on as I read Deon Swiggs blog articles. I was moved to call him and respond.

I spend a lot of my time each day doing business online with regard to my MAPquest and get to see a large number of very different websites including blogs. Today was especially pleasing because I got to meet a "Kiwi" - from another part of New Zealand - who is clearly making his mark on the internet. It was nice to reciprocate.

I know this because first of all he has the good sense to write intelligent content based around his business which is real estate (yes - even in these troubled times !!) I found it refreshing to visit his website because , like me, he's endeavouring to provide a service and cultivate relationships online for the purpose of developing his business. Reciprocity at work here I thought. My MAPquest relates to developing media acquired prospects for my business and no doubt his is to let people get to know who he is, his values and the service he can offer. Either way, blogging this way is proving to be very efffective.

I first came across Tom Prendergast CEO of Veretekk, in 1997 after I had been online for a couple of months looking for a home business or at least ways to make money online.If you�re unaware of Veretekk it is the leading lead generation and SEO company on the Net.
