It is Time to Take Action

It is Time to Take Action

The following article was written by Tom Prendergast and clearly outlimes the trend of the middle class household as we approach the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. Read it carefully, for your future hangs in the balance.

Don Jeffre

The Middle class is being attacked!

The trend is firmly entrenched with the outsourcing of good paying jobs. White color jobs (IE: It services, software design, engineering, etc.), support and call centers, banks customer support, airlines phone sales counters, etc. going to India and other similar countries. Good paying blue caller jobs in the US are declining with manufacturing moving to China, Mexico and other countries.

At home jobs like construction, landscaping, farm labor, hotel services, etc. are being filled by illegal aliens. So where does that leave us? In the middle fighting to maintain our life style. Gas prices are soaring. The cost of living is on the rise. The value of the US dollar is dropping. Most of us in the middle class are burdened by crushing debt. And to make it worse we are being attacked from all sides!

We can blame ourselves. When was the last time you went shopping for clothes? Did you check the labels? Everything is from China, not the USA like it was not so long ago. And I bet you pay for everything with your credit cards. Speaking of credit cards, we are guilty of buying ourselves into debt. This is part of the problem. Your home, your auto, your boat, etc. are all owned by the bank and you make payments every month from your shaky income to maintain this debt. By the way, if you own your home it is not an asset unless you are renting it out and not living in it, and if you are refinancing your home as the equity increases to pay off debt, you are following the fool's pursuit.

Even though the United States has the most advanced medical industry in the world, it is expensive and medical insurance for the average family of four is over $1000 over month. But nationalizing our health care is not the answer. And you can bet that taxes will rise considerably if the Democrats take control the presidency as well as the house, and you are the one the taxes will rise for.

And as taxes rise you can also expect the local job market will shrink as well. So what are you going to do? The rich (anyone making over $500,000 per year) will hardly be effected. There is a reason for this. The rich do things differently than the poor and middle class do, and you don't have to be rich to learn what they do, and by learning and applying this new mind set. you will find yourself gaining the same advantages they do and actually begin to build wealth instead of debt.

Find out why the rich pay far less taxes, how they make their money work for them instead of working for money. How they protect their assets and build additional wealth. When you discover these principle and apply them to your life, you will see your life and finances make a major turn for the better. When these principles are applied you will no longer fear for your job.

By joining Sohomatic, you will have access to this SOHO information and learn how to apply it to your particular situation.

I have and here is an example of how I took a $1300 a month expense and turned it into profit. Several years ago I was paying $900 per month to finance my RV as well as another $400 a month to store it in covered storage in a nearby storage facility. I only use it 2 or 3 times a year. With this new mindset, I went out and found an RV rental store and discovered that they would store my RV for free and us it in their inventory of rentals. By doing this they split what they rent it out for with me.

On the average I receive a check from them every month for $1500.00. I have turned that liability into and asset that makes me around $7000.00 per year and I still get to use the RV whenever I want to. I have taken that income and used it to pay the RV's mortgage down as well so my monthly mortgage on that RV is now below $500 per month. Plus I get to write off all the costs of the RV against my income when I pay taxes. Brilliant isn't it? Speaking of taxes, because I also own my own little business now, I have cut my taxes by more than %50!

Are you interested now? And there is no cost for joining. But the benefits are huge!

Five Tips To Increase Your Backlinks

Five Tips To Increase Your Backlinks

Getting a top position in the search engines is no easy task. The key to achieving this is constantly building links to your site – here are five simple strategies…

Put Pen to Paper

Whatever industry or niche you’re in, you should have an above average knowledge of that topic, so put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard!) and write some informative short articles (300 – 500 words) that would appeal to your target market. You can either syndicate these articles through article directories, or head to the publishers and try to get them published on high ranking sites. Doing both is always a good idea. Every time your article gets published, you score free links – so get going now!

Social-ize…

Explore the realm of social bookmarking and get your links featured on as many social networks are possible. The potential for a viral linking explosion is huge in any social network, so work on a good value offer to promote to these networks (something free and useful).

Break Into the Forum Community

By registering on, and actively participating in forums that are relevant to your niche, you can quickly build up the number of backlinks to your website using your signature file (provided that they allow this and that the links are “dofollow”). Whilst the “SEO weight” of these links is debatable, you still get the benefit of publicity and who knows, you could learn a thing or two whilst online! A word of warning though – don’t spam the forums with rubbish comments purely to score backlinks to your site – you’ll get kicked out pretty quickly.

Follow Some Blogs

Blog commenting is quite a popular link building technique in the SEO community. You simply follow some popular blogs in your niche or industry, and provide constructive comment where suitable, leaving your link in the comment. Make sure that the blogs are “dofollow” type, as the “nofollow” ones are useless.

Differentiate or Die

This classic business phrase has a slightly different meaning in terms of link building. When building links (whatever method you may use), always try to differentiate your anchor text used across the web – at least to a certain degree. Having identical links and anchor text all over the web is likely to raise a brow with the search engines.

Most importantly, commit to the journey of link building.

The best link building strategy is a long term, consistent one. Set a target for how many links you want to build monthly, and aim to achieve this amount every month. Be patient and have a little faith – your hard work will be rewarded.

Blogging Can Make Your Business Profits Jump

Blogging Can Make Your Business Profits Jump

One of the most important steps to succeeding online is to frequently post interesting content to your blog. Here is an article that explains the importance of using blogs in your business. Don Jeffre, Veretekk Platinum Warrior

How a Blog Can Seriously Help Your Business

If your business website doesn’t have a blog, get one. A blog, if done right, can act as a direct and indirect mechanism that brings large amounts of
qualified visitors to your site, many of whom may become customers. This is mostly related to the way blogs interact with search engines and the
traffic I am speaking of will come from search engines, mostly Google. Before I explain how you can do this to help your website, let me first give
some background on how search engines work, Google in particular.

When it comes to optimizing your website (or blog for that matter) for search engines you must always keep in mind two things: on-page optimization and
off-page optimization. On-page optimization is the elements of a Web page that better optimize it to be found and ranked well in the search engines. These elements can include on-page content such as the actual sentences and paragraphs on the page, the headlines (or headers or Hx tags), the links, the links’ text, the title tag and much more.

Off-page optimization means the things that are done on sites besides your own, namely link-building. Off-page optimization is the process of creating
links (or causing others to create links) on other websites that point to your site. Inbound links as these are often called have a major impact on how well you rank in search engines. Generally speaking, the more inbound links, the better. But the quality of the sites with these inbound links, or the way the search engines perceive the sites, is even more important.

To rank on the first couple of pages on the search engines requires work on both on-page and off-page optimization. Two additional and important pieces of information that you’ll need to understand are related to site content and internal links. Search engines also very much love new, original and quality content, and they like to see your website regularly adding this kind of new content. You don’t need to add pages every day, just add pages at the same rate over time. So if you add a page a week to your site, keep it at around that same pace, or increase or decrease gradually.

A website can be considered a living entity in a sense. It certainly shouldn’t be static. It should grow over time. And the fantastic thing about
content is that the more of it there is on your site, the more chances you have of getting found in the search engines. The idea that inbound links help your search engine rankings that I explained above can be extended to your own internal pages as well. In other words, the more links to a particular page coming from other pages within the same site will boost that page’s rank as well.

Think of it this way. If you had a ten page site, including a product page and every page on the site contained a link to your product page and, if all
other things were equal, your product page would rank higher than the rest of your site’s pages (besides the home page which is given a little extra weight).

Now let’s consider what would happen if there were only you and your competitor in your industry (if only that could be true!) and your site still
had those ten pages while your competitor’s site contained one hundred pages. Furthermore, your competitor set it up the same way as you where he added a link to every page on his site that pointed to his product page. If all other things were equal, his product page would outrank your product page every time. Why? Because he had 100 internal links pointing to his product page and you only had 10. If you put all these pieces together now, on-page optimization, off-page optimization or link building, content creation and internal linking, can you begin to see why a blog may be a good thing? A blog helps with all of these.

A blog that is regularly updated is providing a mechanism for adding fresh content on a regular basis. Plus, it’s so easy to use a blog that anyone can use them, so even if you or your employees don’t know a thing about Web pages and HTML, you’ll still be able to add new content to your site.

Consider this. If you add fresh, quality content to your blog on a regular basis by writing posts, something the search engines love, and within each post you link to an important page within your site, let’s say your product page for instance, you’re now building links to help your rankings using your blog. With this additional link your product page gets that much more boost in the search engines. Remember how I explained that links from within your own site help your rankings? Adding links within your blog posts pointing back to your other important pages that you want to rank well is a great way to help your rankings.

And every time you publish a new post, you’re giving the search engines one more entry point into your site. Your site will quickly get bigger, and with
each new page your site gets more visible. Keep in mind that the links you make within your blog posts should be relevant. Only link to your product page from a post that has to do with your products. And also, blog posts ought to be useful to your site visitors. The less you talk about your products and instead offer useful, free information that people can use, the more traffic and repeat visitors you’ll get. Remember that people really don’t care about you, your website or your products, they only care about how you can help them. If you sell furniture, a blog post about how to find the best deals on furniture would be far better than a post about how your chairs are the best in the world. One important thing to remember is that if you plan on creating a new blog for your business as a way to augment your website be sure you put the blog on your actual domain. This means that you would not use a remote service like Blogger.com. Instead, you must have the blog on your business website’s address (or domain). For example, if your website address is http://www.yoursite.com/ then your blog should be located at http://www.yoursite.com/blog or http://blog.yoursite.com/

By adding a blog to your business website you are creating a way to get more traffic. You’ll get direct traffic from your posts, which get indexed by the
search engines and drive traffic to your site from searches. And, you’ll get indirect traffic from your other site’s pages ranking well in the search engines because they have links pointing to them from your blog posts. You’ll be regularly adding fresh content to your site, which search engines
love, thereby creating more ways to be found in the search engines at the same time. And each post provides a new opportunity to create a link or two to other pages and blog posts on your site, thereby boosting those pages’ rankings. Like I suggested at the beginning, if your business website doesn’t have a blog, go get one.

Easy Ways to Improve Search Engine Ranking and Drive Traffic

Easy Ways to Improve Search Engine Ranking and Drive Traffic

To learn how to increase search engine rankings and drive website traffic you need to understand the concepts that govern the way the search engines work.

Without an understanding of these principles and a system to incorporate them into everything you do online, you will not get the success you are seeking.

On the other hand, learn how to effectively utilize them and you will start dominating niches all over the Internet driving thousands of visitors to your site on a daily basis.

So what are the principles that rule search engine rankings and how do I improve mine? Here they are:

1. Relevancy
2. Popularity
3. Originality
Relevancy

Relevancy is something defined as having relationship to. For example if your website was about golf, related content would include information about such things as golf clubs, golf courses and golf lessons.

Content about anything other than the topic of the website or related topics would not score for relevancy, thereby having no chance of ranking in the search engines. Search engines check your site for relevancy.

You need to be right on topic for whatever it is you are targeting with the content you create. A final word of caution about relevancy: Relevancy alone will not rank your site. You could have the most highly relevant, best original content ever written posted at your site, however if there are no sites pointing to it, it will never rank in the search engines. Relevancy does not work without the concepts of popularity and original content.

The first step is to choose the keyword or keyword phrase you want your content to target. Let’s say you’re trying to get a higher ranking for this keyword phrase, the topic I am currently writing about, “Improve Search Engine Ranking”. First, you would want to find what people are searching for and specifically target that keyword if you want your content to rank for that phrase.

Make sure you include the keyword phrase in the title of the article. For example, your title could be “Strategies To Improve Search Engine Ranking”. Always try to put the keyword or keyword phrase as the first few words of the article title. Always remember to use the keyword phrase, several times throughout the article. Finally make sure your content remains 100% relevant to the keyword phrase.

Popularity

Popularity works together with relevancy to improve search engine rankings. Popularity is based on two key measures:

1. How Many Sites Link to Your Site

A site’s popularity is measured first by the number of sites that directly link to your site.

To demonstrate popularity let’s take a quick look at YouTube. YouTube is one of the most popular sites on the Internet, Why? All links and embed codes taken from YouTube and embedded on other sites, whether on Facebook, Myspace, a blog, a sales page or a website, create automatic links back to YouTube where the video is hosted. Every time someone shares a YouTube video a link is created.

With the number of videos shared, Youtube gets thousands of new incoming links daily. This is one of the reasons why YouTube videos rank very highly on the search engines. Their site is super popular.

2. The Popularity of the Sites Linking to You

The more popular the site linking to you is, the better the score given by the search engines.

The more incoming links to your site the more popular it is. It is therefore always important to syndicate the content of your site (with a direct link to the content on your site), to as many sites as possible. The Internet presents a host of sites where you can post your content for free to increase your search engine rankings, including popular high ranking sites like article directories, blogs, social bookmarking sites, video
sites, press release and social network pages.

Originality

Originality basically refers to unique content. In simple terms the search engines ask the question, is this same piece of content all over the Internet? As an example, if I took a highly relevant and popular article from my site and posted it to hundreds of sites it would not rank high in the search engines as it would no longer be deemed unique.

There is no doubt that spreading your unique content across the Internet is important for driving traffic to your site. The secret is to make several unique versions of the same information all with a backlink to your original article posted on your site. Spinning is a popular term used to describe the process of changing the titles, key words and phrases throughout your article to make several unique versions. Placing these all
over the Internet with a back link to your site will improve rankings.

Follow the steps above and I promise you will see an increase in the number of visitors to your site.

Inetekk built the standard to prevent abuse and
comply with the anti spam advocates! We agree! Spam infuriates,
offends, and intrudes. The core issue is the violation of privacy.
Veremail is a legitimate, bulk mailing system. Veremail is a
verification, double opt in system. Veremail has 3rd party
verifiability. Veremail is the core system that makes everything work
in Veretekk. So what exactly is Veremail? We built it back in 1998. It
took two years to perfect it. Veremail is two primary systems. The
Veremail that works within the entire Veretekk system makes sure all
subscriptions are verified and all submissions get a clearly defined
and legitimate verification email. This background Veremail runs the
suppression list. When Veretekk sends out an email and it returns
undelivered, Veremail purges that email address from the Veretekk
system. When a recipient receives a legitimate email from Veretekk and
that recipient claims Spam, Veremail proves they verified and accepted
the agreement to receive such email! When a recipient wants to opt out,
the Veremail system automatically purges their email address and adds
them to the Veremail suppression list so they never receive another
email from the entire Inetekk system, even further Verification
requests. I have tried other autoresponder systems.

EStrange uses the Veremail servers to verify
your secondary address when you set this service up. We do this to
prevent the inadvertent mistake of putting the wrong email address in.
Imagine how upset the wrong person would be if all of a sudden they
started receiving your massive incoming email being sent via the
secondary address!

All autoresponders run through the Veremail
system. All outgoing, verified email, carries the Veremail proof of
verification information, automatically, in the autoresponders footers,
along with unsubscribe Veremail scripts.

are DNS checked (the return email address root domain is checked with
the DNS record of the out going mail server). If it checks out to
be valid, the incoming email address is captured to receive
autoresponders via the Bully Pulpit system. The incoming email is then
forwarded to your secondary email address in your Estrange Control
panel. All autoresponder messages carry the DNS trail and the Subject
and Title of the incoming email it is being sent to. This is a primary
Veremail function.

Leadsomatic is a quality lead generation and ad submission system used for submitting ads to 2 Billion websites for a mere $10 a month. Subscribers can improve SEO, generate quality leads, and earn a residual income all in one place. Buying leads also becomes a thing of the past because Leadsomatic generates premium leads for you. The power of Leadsomatic is undeniable and it levels the playing field for the little guy.

Leadsomatic automatically posts to 2 billions sites and while many of those are FFA sites that see little traffic, the sites posted also include classified sites and ad boards. Leadsomatic is more than just an ad blaster and the real power comes from using this tool as a SEO tool. Getting traffic from a search engine is all about keywords and using Leadsomatic involves first doing some keyword research. If you select a keyword like "Premium Leads" for example, you first would want to optimize your website for this term by putting it in the title, keywords and have it appear on the index page. Then link the keywords in the ad to your site to create the kind of links the search engines are looking for. At this point, you can use the key word ranking tool in Leadsomatic to check the search engines and see if you have chosen the right keyword. Leadsomatic also provides search engine posting of the ad to 40+ search engines.

Using the tool is a 3-step process: it checks your keywords' popularity on 40 top search engines; submits your site to those search engines; then you use the submitter to "blast" your ad. With 2 Billion sites in its database capable of receiving remotely submitted ads, of course several different kinds of sites will be in the mix, but you can't spam the ad sites that are designed for that purpose.

Online submission systems have come and gone over the years. Only Veretekk's submission technology offered through The Hammer has endured the test of time. Generate leads and now profit too! If you want your ad posted across the entire Internet, then Leadsomatic is for you. With the click of a button you will watch your submission go out to all 2 Billion sites as Leadsomatic goes to work.

Ezine Advertising for Home Based Business

Ezine Advertising for Home Based Business
By: Willie DeJarnette

Have you ever considered ezine advertising for your home based business? If not, you're truly missing out on some valuable exposure to your business. Ezine advertising can be a powerful tool if you follow the right guidelines and you will be successful.

Always include quantifiable benefits when writing an ezine advertisement - and actually tell the truth. For instance, if you say "lose 5 pounds in 5 days," people will actually be interested in that and believe it is possible at the same time. Distorting the benefits wont help at all; it will make the advertisement look like a scam more than anything else.

When creating a solo advertisement, alter the copy so that it specifically portrays the product as a solution to a specific problem. Purchase several solo advertisements to test how well this version converts when compared to other versions. Testing is vital if you want to continually improve the conversion rate of your advertisements.

This is very vital for ezine advertising members to realize. Always look for word of mouth referrals for ezine before you place advertisements. In many cases, no matter how good your copy is, you will find that certain ezine simply will not be responsive to your email. This might be because the ezine isn't actually as big as the owner claims it is - and it might also be because the owner has not promoted the list in a year.

Think on a professional level. Make sure you format your ezine advertisement correctly before you send in to a publisher. In most cases, you will have to format your advertisement to 60 - 65 words; and you may even want to perform a spam check. If the text isn't formatted properly, lines will be broken and wrapped unprofessionally; and if you don't perform a spam check, it may never even go through in the first place.

When creating a top sponsor advertisement, avoid making an attempt to sell anyone on anything. Instead, give something away completely free that will up sell the reader later, such as a subscription or a special report. Additionally, make sure you clearly communicate that nothing is for sale - and that you simply want them to take action for free.

Become a software application provider for ezine owners. Ask ezine owners what software applications they need - and then hire someone to create an application for you. Distribute this software to all of the ezine owners who have a use for it. Make sure there is some back-end component build in that will drive users to your site.

Now, moving from our last point about ezine advertising we will now discuss when outsourcing any work you are doing as part of an ezine marketing campaign, remember to carefully check for plagiarism and theft. This is definitely an unpleasant thought, but plagiarism has become quite rampant on freelancing sites. If you own several websites, you can use Copyscape to do this for you; however, each site will be limited to 20 scans.

The 5 Steps to a Social Media Avalanche of Customers

The 5 Steps to a Social Media Avalanche of Customers

“Build it and they will come” the saying goes.

Not.

You can build a blog or video site and you can still be lacking connections.

Connection is the nuclear core of social media. But you must make an effort in order for that to happen.

Whether you have a social media home business, traditional brick and mortar business, or an online business, you must get into the social trenches and connect and converse. It is that simple and that plain.

It is all about connecting and creating a magnetic conversation with people that draws them towards you.

But why are people in social media not doing that?

Maybe they do not know this powerful 5 step “Avalanche Process” for getting new customers and keeping them in social media.

The first thing you must do is connect with the social media culture. It is what marketing is about in social media. Some people think that they can be anti-social in social media and think they can broadcast their message and people will still come.

That simply is not going to happen. Not in social media. You do not build ‘it” but instead, build relationships that can become doorways and then eventually become customers.

Here is the “Avalanche Path” you can follow:

1) Connect –> 2) Conversation –> 3) Value –> 4) Doorway –> 5) Customer.

Let’s take a quick look at each step:

1) CONNECT

Connection with people is where success in social media starts. Connect with people on Twitter, on Facebook, on LinkedIn, on Youtube, on Orkut, or every other niche site out in the social sphere that matters. You must connect.

Here’s a little tip:

Connect to those who are looking for you. They will find you if you are visible, and accessible to connect to.

2) CONVERSATION

This step is where the conversation with people starts. You talk about the prospect and where they want to go. You talk about what they want to talk about. You study their profile, pictures and videos on their social sites as you can learn a lot just by paying attention.

Then make sure that you stay in touch and listen when they are communicating with you. If you do that, they will want to stay connected to you.

3) VALUE

This step is where you bring in the magnet to pull them towards your message. Show them value they can obtain with your message in their life. Show them how your message can help expand, increase, enlarge and improve their life. You do it through tips and how to’s in videos and blog posts and podcasts, as well as tweets and twips. Show them how you can make their life easier and show them how to do something they want to learn. You show them how to be or do something. If you can increase the size of their dreams, you can get them as a customer.

The more value people perceive you have for them the more likely they will walk through the “Doorway.”

4) DOORWAY

This is the doorway to conversion where you convert them to a customer. You must convert prospects into customers if you are going to have any kind of business. That is simple to do.

Give them an offer where “No” is impossible to say. That is the secret. Give first and then make the offer so compelling they cannot say “No.” We do it all the time. We just ran a social media special on our training products and it blew the roof off our shipping department. It has created a flood of new customers and new orders for us. All we did was give them an offer that was difficult to turn down.

The secret of success we experienced can be found in the word “Give.”

Give away something they must have, and something that will improve their life, and they will get it.

5) CUSTOMER

This final step is where they purchase your message, products, or webinar or event. This is the beggining of your relationship though- not the end.

Here you must start building the relationship between you and the customer even more.

Give more than they expected and throw something in for free they were not expecting. Give them a free download or ebook and let them see a Private video collection as a special.

Encourage more. Make sure that you send a note of encouragement and stay in touch with them.

Thank them more. Make sure they know you are thankful for their business and connection. We send out free downloads all the time to say thanks that some people paid $$$ for in the past. Thank them in everything you do and they will come back for more.

Get your customers addicted to your Value, Message and Emotions. They will become more than a customer. They will become a loud speaker for you and tell everyone you know you are the best at what you do

That is what you want to happen in your home business or traditional business in social media marketing.

Mail forwarding solutions for home businesses

Mail forwarding solutions for home businesses

By: Michael Harris

When many businesses start out they are often based at home. This is
understandable for several reasons. Many business ideas stem from
hobbies or interests and develop into commercial opportunities. Most
new businesses start from home to keep costs down during the businesses
infancy. Some businesses continue to operate from home as ecommerce,
drop shipping and online shops has removed the need for an actual
presence on the high street.

Most home based businesses choose to operate as a limited company or
sole trader. Either way the owners of the business have to consider
whether or not they want to declare their home address as their main
business address. Whilst some people may not have any problems with
this there are a few points that should be considered.

If you choose to use your home address for your business, this will be
declared to the tax authorities, company registry, and other government
organisations. All of your letter heads, adverts and other
correspondence will need to show your home address. If your business is
web based then most clients expect to see an address provided in the
contact details. Your address is then freely available for everyone to
access.

You may decide that you do not want to declare your address to the
entire world. This provides you with a couple of options. Firstly you
could use a post office box commonly referred to as a PO Box. These are
easy to set up with a local post office or similar service provider.
They are relatively inexpensive and provide a cheap alternative to
using your own address. Mail can either be collected or forwarded for
an additional fee. However, they are not always the right solution.

Organisations like banks, international couriers and many suppliers of
goods will not accept a PO Box as a business address. It may be
difficult to order supplies and deliveries if you only provide a PO Box
as your contact. In addition to this, what will your clients and
customers think? You may find that a PO Box deters people from using
your services. Consider what a prospective customer may be thinking if
your contact details online only show a PO Box and not a standard
address. It may not fill them with confidence.

The second alternative is to use a mail forwarding company. Instead of
using a PO Box you may prefer to use a company that specialises in
forwarding mail for businesses. This removes the PO Box section from
your address. Some service providers may use suite numbers instead to
identify your mail. Many of the professional mail forwarding companies
however, simply let you use their address. The mail is then sorted by
dedicated staff and forwarded on to you the day it is received. Whilst
this may not be as cheap as the first option it avoids any stigma
attached to using PO Boxes and means that even international couriers
will deliver to your address.

This type of mail forwarding service allows you to display your
business address on your website, promotional material and business
correspondence. Your customers need never know that your mail is
processed through an alternative address. Your personal address is not
disclosed to your clients providing you with piece of mind. Junk mail
is avoided and you will never get a dissatisfied customer turn up at
your family home.

A further point to consider is the urgency of your mail. If your
business mail is not urgent then collecting from a PO Box can be done
at your leisure. Mail forwarding service providers will delay your mail
by one day. Therefore if you regularly need business correspondence the
next day then neither service may be suitable to your business.

When operating your business from home consider the implications of
using your own address, a post office box or a mail forwarding service
provider. There are advantages and disadvantages to all solutions. It
is important to remember that whatever decision you make you should
minimise the impact on your customers.
Keyword Research Basics for SEO

Keyword Research Basics for SEO

By Dave Davies (c) 2010

I've said it before and I'll say it again... there is no more important step in the SEO process than keyword research. One could make a compelling argument for link building or for architecture or for copywriting but at the end of the day - ranking highly for keywords that either don't convert or which you close up shop waiting to rank for isn't going to help too terribly much so in my opinion - I'd put keyword research higher in importance. In fact, when I'm building affiliate sites my first step is to look up keywords and competition levels - then I look into products and websites and this method has worked very well indeed. It insures that I choose keywords that will both convert and that I can rank for in a period of time and with an effort level that matches the return.

So - if you're doing keyword research, where should you begin? Unless you're an affiliate marketer you already have a product and since you're the target audience of this article - I'm going to assume that's the case. For the purpose of this article I'm going to pick a hobby of mine and also an area where I don't have a client and imagine I'm doing keyword research for the imaginary online downhill mountain biking store, DH Mountain Bikes.

So Where To Begin ... The first thing one needs to do is try to think up all the possible phrases that might apply. I call this my seed list... it's the list of phrases that my research starts with and is generally based on brainstorming. In this case the list would be:

     downhill mountain bike
dh mountain bike
mountain bike

The keyword tool I generally use first is Google's keyword suggestion tool. There are other great tools but I've found Google's tool to be as accurate as any other, the price is definitely right (free), and they're very good about providing the information required to know just how wrong the data is if you know where to look. So let's do just that.

Before we begin you'll need to head over to Google's keyword tool. In the top left (for now) you'll see a link to a beta version of the tool. Click on the link and you'll be at the new version of the tool which will provide you easy access to much more information - as long as you know what to look for. So let's begin with our three seed phrases.

When you see the list you'll first have to know what the numbers are. This tool is a tool designed for AdWords and the default number is the Broad match which means it includes every phrase with the term. For example, the term "mountain bike" has a broad match total of 2,740,000 which will include "downhill mountain bike", "mountain bike parts", "kona mountain bike", etc. etc.

What we want to know is how many searches are for "mountain bike". Down the left-hand side you'll see a set of check boxes. Deselect "Broad" and select "Exact" and you'll get the Exact match numbers - the number of searches for the exact phrase. You'll quickly see that 2,740,000 drop to 450,000. This is how many people searched the GOOGLE SEARCH NETWORK for "mountain bike". Why is this in caps – because it's so commonly misunderstood that I definitely want your attention brought to it. This isn't the number of searches on Google.com - it's the number of searches on all sites whose search is powered by Google. From YouTube to Beanstalk's blog search - it's all in there so the data starts to get skewed from the start. Then let's add in all the automated queries from rank-checking tools and just manual searches from you and your competitors and the data gets further skewed. This skewing will exist in all data - the thing I like about using Google is that at least we know more about what's adjusting the data.

OK - so from there we need to organize the data into a more useful set of information. To do this one needs to understand the columns of data. The first column is the keyword, the second you'll see is a link to the term on Google Insights. We'll get into this later. The next is Global Monthly Searches - this is the average number of searches/mo. worldwide. This can be helpful in some industries but in ours - I'm only concerned with the US market which is where my imaginary store ships to so I'm more interested in the next column Local Monthly Searches which is the number of searches in the US (or whatever region I've specified when entering my keyword phrases). This is the data I'm interested in. The last column is the search trend. This is extremely important but often overlooked. It is a column that wasn't visible by default in the old/current version.

OK - let's organize our data by search volume. Click on the "Local Monthly Searches" and you'll see the keywords order by descending search volume. With this data in front of me I then typically look over to the Trend data to see what I can find there. In our case we're going to see an increase in search volume in the spring and summer. This make sense of course. Think of your industry and see if the trends reflect what makes sense.

I'm also looking for anomalies. Often I'll see phrases that jump for a single month. One has to know that unless there was a news story or other event that would spark interest in a single term or brand - a tool or some other such incident is likely falsifying the data. You need to look at these trends and see if they make sense. If not - you need to either test the phrases with PPC or just skip over them and select different phrases. There's little worse as an SEO than focusing energies on a phrase only to find that the search volume is not what was expected based on the estimates delivered.

So now what?

So what do you do once you've filtered your data down to just what you're interested in looking into competition levels on. Well - the first thing I do is to look to the trends to see if there are any phrases that obviously need to be filtered out. In this case there really aren't any high in the search volume column. So the only thing left is to look at the competition levels to see what makes sense. For our purposes we'll be dividing the list and research into two categories:

Major phrases – We need to decide what the long-term goals are going to be and the targets for the main pages. These will be the totally generic phrases such as "mountain bike" and "downhill mountain bike" as well as brand or type specific phrases such as "specialized mountain bike" and "full suspension mountain bike".

Longtail phrases - We also need to look into the types of longtail phrases we're going to want to target. In this case I know I'll want to target specific parts which will require new research. I will spare you the details there, but I'll end up with specific models of components such as "hayes mx2". You don't need to know what that is - you need to know the makes and models in your industry (or other longatil opportunities such as "new york hotel with jacuzzi", etc.)

I generally would gather together a list of 15 or 20 major phrases and 50 or 60 longtail phrases and would then head into the competition analysis to determine which phrases to move forward with.

Seven Things You Never Want To Say To A Potential Customer

Seven Things You Never Want To Say To A Potential Customer

Posted: 25 May 2010 10:14 AM PDT

Unless your goal is to scare potential customers away, never say these seven things to them.

1. Never say to a potential customer: We don’t accept credit cards – Your customers expect you to accept credit cards – when you tell them you can’t – you immediately disappoint them and give them a big reason not do business with you!

These days, most businesses do qualify for a merchant account from their bank or at the very least qualify to open a WorldPay account. (We’ll cover that in another article.)

Bottom line – you are not really in business unless you can accept credit card payments.

2. Never say to a potential customer: Please allow 28 days for delivery- When your customers are ready to buy, they usually want the product immediately.

If you tell potential customers they have to wait 28 days before they can get the product, most will go somewhere else to buy. Even if customers have to wait just a few days, or in some cases, a few hours (i.e. to access to a subscription web site or download an eBook/Software item), they will often go away without placing the order.

Bottom Line: To avoid losing customers, make sure your products are available for immediate shipment. Be sure to offer next day shipping when possible. And never offer products that require customers to wait 28 days for delivery.

3. Never say to a potential customer: No questions allowed! – Often customers will want to speak to you before placing an order. But if you don’t include a phone number in your ad or on your website, it is like saying ‘no you can’t call us and ask questions!’

Not having a phone number where customers can reach you before the sale often discourages the sale itself.

Bottom Line: Always include a phone number in all your ads, web site, press releases, and sales letters.

4. Never say to a potential customer: We aren’t interested in your call – Incoming calls to your business should always be answered – either by a live person, or by a professional voice mail system.

Never let phone calls go answered. Doing so immediately causes doubt in the customer’s mind. They begin to wonder, “Is this a real business? No one seems to ever answer the phone. Maybe I should place my order with another company.”

In my office I have a voice mail system to answer all incoming calls that Nadine and I can’t personally answer. When we are out of the office during business hours, we forward our office phones to our mobile phones. This allows us to take business calls whenever they come in, wherever we may be.

The same is true with fax calls. Potential customers expect you to have a fax machine – all real businesses do. If a potential customer wants to fax you a question, a sales order, or anything else, you want to be able to receive the fax.

Bottom Line: Make sure your business phones are answered. During business hours the phones should be answered by a real person, and a voice mail system after hours. If you can’t afford a voice mail system and stand-alone fax machine, then configure your computer to answer your phone and receive incoming faxes for you.

5. Never say to a potential customer: We don’t have a web site – these days, customers expect you to have a web site. And they expect to see information about your company, your location, the products you offer, support materials, and more at that web site.

If you don’t have a web site, your customers might find a competitor who does.

Bottom Line: Almost all businesses should have a web site. The website should have a professional design, be easy to use, and provide the kind of information potential customers will be looking for.

6. Never say to a potential customer: Sorry, I don’t have a business card – it continues to amaze me how often I am asked for a business card by potential customers who I come in contact with in non-business environments.

For example, recently whilst I was buying a new car, the salesman asked about the kind of business I ran, and after hearing the explanation he said, “I know someone looking for that kind of software. Give me your business card and I’ll pass it on to him.” And he did, and we got a call from someone who may turn into a customer.

Bottom Line: Make sure you have business cards with you wherever you go. You never know when you might find a new customer. (Make sure your business card has your name, your company name, your web site address, your email address, and a brief description of the kinds of products or services you offer).

7. Never say to a potential customer: Yes, our product can do everything you ever wanted. That can’t possible be true – no matter how great a product or service you have, it can’t do everything.

If a potential customer asks about features your product doesn’t have, be honest. Tell them that you haven’t included the feature, but it is a good suggestion and you’ll consider adding it (if that is possible).

Whatever you do, don’t mislead potential customers about what your product can and can’t do. Be honest about it – customers do appreciate honesty. You can avoid disappointing customers by being clear about what your product can or can’t do.

Bottom Line: Better to lose a sale than to create a disappointed or angry customer. If your customer is looking for a feature that you don’t include in your product, tell them so.

Dealing with Negative Feedback

Dealing with Negative Feedback

By Abby Johnson - Fri, 05/14/2010 - 3:37pm.

7 ways to address negativity effectively

No one likes to hear negative feedback, but unfortunately, it is a natural part of the communication process. But how should you respond to it?

More SmallBusinessNewz Videos

As pointed out in the above video, the way you respond could either make the negativity worse, or it could make it better. There is not a specific rule of thumb that works in every situation, but there are several different ways that you could effectively address negativity.

For starters, you need to ask yourself if there is any truth to the feedback. Although difficult to admit, there can be some truth to the negativity. If so, you need to address it and learn from the experience.

While this second response might sound like a cop out, sometimes completely avoiding the negativity is the best way to respond. If you examine the feedback and determine that it is not worth your time, just ignore it.

Thirdly, try to turn the negativity positive. In most cases, this response involves poking fun of the business or preson being criticized. Some businesses have a hard time doing this, but it is an option to consider.

The fourth tip for responding is to understand that speedy responses are not always effective. Some businesses think that they need to respond immediately to the feedback, but that isn't always the case.

Another way of dealing with negativity is to try an alternative form of communication. So much communication takes place online anymore, but we all know that it is often misinterpreted. If you can arrange an in-person meeting or even a phone conversation, either of these options could help make the situation better.

The sixth way of responding is by letting your community speak for you. Sometimes the community could have a greater impact than you ever could have. Community Strategist Connie Bensen said, "Peer interaction is ideal because that can save on your call center and definitely people can help each other, and then that also increases your word-of-mouth."

Lastly, even with all these options for responding, understand that none of them may work. In other words, there are some situations that no matter what is done, the negativity is still present. In cases such as this, the only thing you can do is put the issue behind you and look toward to the future.

Is it a Good Idea to Rebrand E-Books

Post from: SiteProNews: Webmaster News & Resources

The Golden Secrets to Ebooks With Resell Rights

Is it a Good Idea to Rebrand E-Books as an Online Business Building Tool?

Many well known internet marketers recommend rebranding e-books when possible as a way to increase visitors to your website and build a successful online business income. Because re-branding e-books has proved to be profitable does this mean that it is actually the best strategy?

Like so many other things with internet marketing this question has both a for and against answer, and it basically needs to be looked at as a separate case in each instance.

1. Reasons why rebranding e-books is a good idea:

It is easy to do
Rebranding an e-book can take a very short period of time to do and can bring you extra income over a long period of time. These e-books can usually be offered as a free download as an incentive for someone to join your emailing list, which just requires them to fill in their name and email address in an optin box on your website and then they can download the book.

Alternatively you could add a free download section on your website where visitors would be able to download a variety of e-books. If they choose to purchase any of the products that are offered via an e-book that you have re-branded, you will get the benefit of earning a commission on that product.

An added advantage of using this method is that it does not involve you having to write anything, create any graphics or create a product. All that is required of you is to re-brand the book and share it with other people online.

If you are involved in any type of MLM affiliate program, by passing on a rebranded e-book you will not only make a direct profit, but will also benefit from any affiliates below you who may generate extra income for you as well.

2. Reasons why re-branding e-books may be a Bad Idea!

Inside every re-brandable e-book there are certain links that cannot be changed and these are links that generally belong to the person who created the book in the first place and they will also continue to benefit from the work that you do in sharing the e-book with others.

If this scenario does not appeal to you then you should think about writing an e-book that is perhaps similar to the one you were thinking of rebranding and then you could keep all the profits as all the ads will be your own.

Another disadvantage of a rebranded e-book is that if you find an affiliate product that you would like to sell and the creator of that product offers you an e-book that you can rebrand to get started, chances are if the product has been around for any length of time, that the e-book can already be found all over the internet and it will not attract many interested people.

With affiliate products it is important to have a unique selling point if you wish to be successful and if you have something that is already last weeks news it will not work for you. With a little extra work you could have a report that is unique and that no one else has seen yet and this will give you a much greater chance of being successful.

Rebranding e-books definitely has a place in marketing an online business opportunity and should not be judged too harshly. The secret is to look at each case individually and make a decision on what will work best for you. Depending on what you want to achieve and the quality of the book, you can then make an educated choice on what will work best for your online income business.

Getting Leads and Marketing Down Under

If you live in Australia or New Zealand want to
create a successful work from home online business, you've come to the right
place. Internet marketing takes more than a fancy webpage or sophisticated
online marketing tools. It takes experience - which can take you years to
develop... or... which can be provided to you by others - expert trainers ready
to help you meet the goals for your business, whatever your business may be.
That's what Lead Generation is all
about, free leads and community! Veretekk Down Under can offer you live,
hands-on training from some of the best and most successful Internet marketers
online today The journey starts with a single step... is today the day for
you?

Every year, thousands of marketers turn to Veretekk to accelerate the
building of their products and services. Using our Veretekk automated leads and
Search Engine Optimization service, subscribers receive from our proprietary
technology, the finest entrepreneurial premium leads.

One of the world's most successful businessmen was being interviewed. During the
interview the interviewer asked... "How did you do it? What's the secret of
being successful in business?" The entrepreneur replied... "Well, it's simple
really. I just buy something for one price and sell it for a higher price."

As you read through this web site,
you will discover that the answer the businessman gave was a great answer! It
doesn't matter if you have been in business for 20 years or are just starting
out. To be successful, you must know how to make a profit; how to
buy low and sell high. There is no other reason for being in business. You
can start off in business because it's something that you enjoy, something that
your mom or dad did, however, ultimately you are in business to make money.

So why do some people succeed and others don't? As you read you will get
the business principles necessary to understand how to make a profit in
any business. This includes any business you start on the Internet. There are
people who start businesses on the Internet and then do absolutely nothing . And
I mean, they don't even monitor their site for opportunity nor do they
communicate with others to create opportunity. This is a lot like whispering
down a well about your business. The only thing that's visible is your rear-end
and no one can hear you!

Don't let this happen to you... Having a business on the Internet is just like
having a business anywhere else. The same principles apply. Most important of
all are generating MLM Leads and turning leads into customers. To be
successful you must get leads and turn some of these leads into
customers.

Veretekk connects you directly with these active prospects in three steps:
Prospects complete an online Request-for-Service form from one of over 20
Traffic Portals. Once in, the automated professional marketing system prospect's
information is verified and then added to your Premium leads control panel.
Matched prospects, including their full contact information and survey results,
are immediately uploaded to your management control panel exclusively.

As you read through this web site you'll get an understanding of what's required
to get leads and turn them into customers. Also there are tons of examples that
you can relate to in everyday life together with many other great ideas that you
can put into your business immediately.

Just a glance at the full Gold System in action with 42 fully configurable
lead capture pages to promote your business online, will make some peoples heads
spin. Unlike any other web traffic or live leads program,
Veretekk's unique system provides
you with the most targeted, exclusive and timely prospect to help improve your
marketing ROI, shortening your growth cycle within. Automatically submit your ad
and get leads the system automatically generated.

So get ready! You're about to get a
lesson in business like never before!
