Decide what you want within easy reach and what can be up on a bookshelf or wall shelf, file cabinet, etc. I would not give up my rolling chair for a pony! Everything I need is normally within reach which minimizes my getting up and down. Phone system, computer and most common files use with excellent lighting are a must for me.

Do you want a simple and fairly clear office or lots of plans and a lived in but organized approach. Does your room welcome you to stay in it? Some folks will want a coffee pot or tea pot; I need my munchies bin of healthy snacks.

Organization is an ongoing organic process: As your work from home based business develops, so will your understandings of your needs. Functionality will be your ongoing priority. At some point it may be possible to put together a pool of writers you can outsource work to, and that is when you will start to really earn money.

Having worked in a team for most of my working life I had many concerns about my decision to work from home.
