1.1 Safety and Security

The best possible precaution should be taken at all times, to maintain the safety and security of the guests, to prevent damage or theft of their property and possessions. Emergency information, procedures and after hours contacts for assistance should be clearly displayed in English, multilingual, if possible (dependant on the customer profile of the establishment).

A person responsible for safety and security should be on call 24-hours a day. To provide safety, security and comfort for guests, lighting needs to be adequate throughout all public areas, particularly stairways and car parks.

The best possible locking devices need to be fitted within all guest rooms. These locks should enable the guest to lock their room from the outside, when leaving the room, as well as from the inside, whilst in the room. In situations where rooms are inter-connecting, locking methods need to be secure and certain.

Just to update you on our recent re-grading at EagleRockGuesthouse As you know, we are situated in one of the best locations for a Durban North Bed & Breakfast facility. I am pleased to report that we retained our 3 star grade.

Serviced Accommodation Minimum Requirements

Definitions for Grading Purposes

Durban North Bed & Breakfast - accommodation is provided in a family (private) home and the owner/manager lives in the house or on the property. Breakfast must be served. Bathroom facilities may or may not be en-suite and/or private. In general, the guest shares the public areas with the host family. Shaun McCleland and Gen have really enjoyed this aspect of our EagleRockGuesthouse

Country House - is a large Guest House, usually situated in natural, peaceful surroundings such as near a nature reserve, a forest, a lake etc. It offers all the services of a hotel, including dinner. Shaun McClelland's B&B is not a Country House, but has natural, peaceful surroundings such as near a nature reserve, a forest and Durban North Beachwood Golf Course in front of the garden.

Guest House - can be an existing home, a renovated home or a building that has been specifically designed to provide overnight accommodation. A guest house will have public areas for the exclusive use of its guests. A guest house is a commercial operation enterprise and as such the owner or manager may live on the property. This criteria fits EagleRockGuesthouse and Shaun and Gene love it.

Hotel - provides accommodation to the traveling public, has a reception area, and offers at least a �breakfast room� or communal eating area. In general a hotel makes food and beverage services available to guests; these may be outsourced or provided by the hotel. Definitely not at EagleRockGuestHouse. Far better facilities at half the price as an hotel.

Lodge - an accommodation facility located in natural surroundings. The rates charged are usually inclusive of all meals and the experience offered at the lodge, with game drives, battlefield tours, etc. Although we are not a Lodge we can facilitate day outings

Only establishments that cater for transient guests (travelling public) will qualify for grading. This we have done and are happy with 3 star rating. Shaun McClelland finds this segment of the market are down to earth easy to please and there is an abundant market here

Well I cant believe how quickly this past year has flown. Our Guest House in Durban North B & B section had a fair year. Considering in the Umhlanga and Durban North B&B area there is over 70 bed and breakfast setups. I remember how nervous I was with my first grading. It took my inspector about 2 hours to go through my guesthouse checking hygiene, bedding, cutlery and environment to grade us a 3 star.

Well Praise God we maintained our 3 star rating last week with the annual inspection the grading board does. I feel this is a good thing as it prevents sloppiness in the industry and protects guests from fly by night operations that do not go for grading.

ESTABLISHMENT BENEFITS Graded organizations have the right and are required to display the Grading Council plaque outside their premises and the certificate inside their premises to display their star rating and indicate that they meet or exceed the Grading Council�s requirements.

Graded organizations may use the Grading Council logo (star) in all their marketing collateral. All graded organizations will be listed on the Tourism Grading Council website with the following details: name of establishment, contact person, telephone and fax number, category, address, email address and web-site details with link to organization�s website for reservation purposes. All graded establishments get a free listing in the annual TGCSA Accommodation Guide and advertising is also available. The TGCSA Accommodation Guide is the only accommodation guide distributed by SA Tourism via its call center and offices worldwide.

Even though you think that the affiliate website you have is very good in that it is flashy and appealing and cute etc, from the 'html' or 'back end' of the affiliate website you will probably find that your affiliate website has not been configured for effective and successful Google SEO in order to achieve first page ranking on Google for you personally. Your first Google SEO task is to select a good high traffic keyword phrase using a reputable keyword selector tool. Once this keyword phrase is validated by your keyword research tool then you purchase a domain name from a reputable hosting company entitled to whatever your validated keyword phrase is. This is what a keyword specific domain name means and is.

The second Google SEO process is to then build a website using that keyword phrase in the title tag, Meta tag description, keywords, content and as the anchor text in all your links throughout your website and content submissions that you submit live onto the internet. The easiest way to create your website is to join a hosting company that already has predesigned templates. Then go to Google and search that search term and note the number or total search results it achieves. Also note the various 'niche markets" and "phrases" associate with your type of business which you can use in your content submissions. This is vital to ensure the success of any Google SEO campaign to market any business on the search engines on the internet.

At the time of writing I get 1757 searches per day for the keyword phrase 'the secret'. Is this a high traffic keyword phrase to use? Yes! Most definitely! Just the keyword 'secret' gives 1390 searches per day. �Secret� is an excellent keyword that will bring lots of traffic to your website, if you include it in your 'longtail keyword' phrase to promote your website.

From an Google SEO view point, it will obviously be a lot of work and time for you to get your business website and content submissions containing information about your business onto the first page of the Google search engine for that category. So include it in your 'longtail keyword' phrase. For example if you are in Herbalife, your title and longtail keyword phrase that you would use would be "Herbalife the secret to sustained weight loss�. Then change the second half of the title when producing content submissions, but keep your first three words "Herbalife the secret... " in everything that you write about when promoting your website and business on the internet. Get the picture? This is only one of many Google SEO keyword strategies.

Let�s look at "automated marketing" again as a keyword to research. From an Google SEO viewpoint, you will be surprised and shocked at the results. At the time of writing the keyword research tool showed 5 searches per day for the keyword term "automated marketing". Obviously a bad search term to target for your marketing campaign on the search engines. So if you have geared your Google SEO campaign for "automated marketing" term, only, you will receive no traffic. However, if you use a combination of the search terms "the secret" and "automated marketing" such as "The secret of automated marketing" you will get better traffic results to your website and business information. However, I would definitely validate another phrase to use instead of "automated marketing" in that longtail keyword phrase as it is a poor search term.

Remember that if the keyword phrase you are targeting is too competitive, in that you know it will take you a long time to land it on the first page of the Google and other search engines, then just scan down the page of your keyword tool results and choose another or a number of other phrases that you can use in your campaign. This is a techniques I use as an Google SEO specialist all the time to ensure that I have validated keywords and keyword phrases (i.e. I have proved those terms with a reliable keyword tool) and I will get my website and business information to the first page of the search engines pretty quickly as well.

So from an Google SEO perspective and as a relevant keyword search term, "automated marketing" is useless and is of no value and should therefore not be included in your Google SEO campaign for your business and business website. You need to find where the traffic is and where the visitors are and what they using as search terms to arrive at your website. You have to find the keyword categories. From the experience I have gained and from the legitimate Google SEO work that I conduct for myself and my Google SEO clients every day, I know what works and I also know what doesn�t work. You need to download the free keyword tools I detailed earlier and start doing and practising keyword research. Type some keywords and keyword phrases into these keyword research tools that you think are 'good' keywords to use to promote a certain business opportunity, product or program. Google and other search engine spiders view duplicate content as an action where you go and copy somebody else�s content, note I said somebody else�s content and not your own and paste that content exactly as it is (i.e. copy and paste it) on many content submission sites and claim it to be your own content. This is the definition of duplicate content which I have tested and confirmed. So blogging as a team and posting posts to blogs as well as many other content submission areas on the internet such as press release companies, forums and article companies is legitimate and works extremely well from an Google SEO standpoint.

As a professional Google SEO specialist and internet marketer you need to continually test everything in Google SEO. Only by testing will you know whether things works or not. So many Google SEO gurus blow hot air about stuff that thy have read and all of a sudden know about, have never tested it for themselves, then treat and preach about what they have read (including the interpretation of Google and other search engine webmaster rules) as gospel. Most are too scared to test things or are not fully committed as Google SEO professionals to do so.

For example I have tested placing new pieces of information in blog posts that I have already submitted and then post them with slightly different content to the same content submission areas. You will never see an entire blog url come up on the first page of the Google and other search engines for any keyword category. What you will see come up on the first page of the search engines is the individual post/s url/s due to their respective validated keyword title and content.
